My husband is a retired federal civil servant with more than 32 years of government service and an equally impressive history as a NARFE member. As an annuitant spouse, I became involved with NARFE approximately eight years ago and quickly discovered an organization whose mission closely aligned with my commitment to service and advocacy.

I am a member of NARFE Chapter 2265, Midlothian, where I have served as Membership Chair, Secretary, and currently President, and Network Coordinator. During my tenure, I have digitized all chapter Secretary and Treasurer records to preserve institutional knowledge and improve accessibility. As Chapter President, I continue to focus on membership recruitment and retention, recognizing that a strong membership base is essential to the future of our organization.

At the federation level, I currently serve as President of the Virginia Federation of NARFE and as a member of the Electronic Communications Committee. In these roles, I work with fellow volunteers to develop communication strategies and technology solutions that are user-friendly, cost-effective, and capable of helping members stay informed and connected. My passion for technology has allowed me to contribute to modernization efforts while supporting members as they adapt to evolving communication platforms.

My service has also included time as the Virginia Federation's First Vice President, Secretary, State Legislation Chair, and currently as Congressional District Leader (CDL) for Virginia's 4th Congressional District. These advocacy-focused positions have reinforced my belief that protecting the earned pay and benefits of federal employees, retirees, and their survivors remains central to NARFE's mission. Advocacy presents challenges, but it also provides meaningful opportunities to educate, engage, and empower our members.

At the national level, I currently serve on several NARFE technology and communications initiatives, including the Microsite Working Group (MWG), User Acceptance Testing Team (UAT), and the FEDHub Planning Group (FHPG). These assignments have provided me with the opportunity to help shape and improve the digital tools and communication platforms that support NARFE members across the country.

As part of this work, I have designed and developed numerous NARFE microsites, including those for Chapter 2265 Midlothian, the Virginia Federation of NARFE, and NARFE Region X. In addition to building sites, I have mentored and trained fellow volunteers through the Microsite Working Group, helping chapters, federations, and regions establish an effective online presence and improve communication with their members.

I also serve as an administrator for the Virginia Federation FEDHub Community, supporting member engagement, information sharing, and collaboration among federation leaders and chapter volunteers. Through these roles, I have gained firsthand experience with the opportunities and challenges of technology adoption in volunteer organizations and have worked to ensure that NARFE's digital tools remain accessible, practical, and member-focused.

My involvement at the chapter, federation, regional, and national levels has given me a broad perspective on NARFE's operations and the diverse needs of our members. It has also reinforced my belief that effective communication, thoughtful leadership, and strategic use of technology are essential to strengthening our organization and preparing it for the future.

Why I Am Running for NARFE National President

I am running for NARFE National President because I believe our members deserve a stronger voice in shaping the future of the organization they support.  I am a lifelong learner who believes that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and improvement..

NARFE was built by volunteers who dedicated their time, talent, and resources to protecting the earned benefits of federal employees and retirees. Those volunteers remain the foundation of our success. Yet too often, members feel disconnected from decision-making, uncertain about organizational priorities, and frustrated by barriers that make it difficult to contribute effectively.

I believe NARFE must renew its commitment to transparency, accountability, and member engagement. Our members deserve clear communication, open dialogue, and confidence that their voices are being heard.

As National President, I will work to strengthen the partnership between National, Federations, Chapters, and individual members. I want to ensure that volunteers have the information, resources, and support they need to succeed and that good ideas can move freely throughout the organization regardless of where they originate.

Throughout my career, my volunteer service, and my leadership roles, I have never been content to simply maintain the status quo. I enjoy solving problems, exploring new ideas, and working collaboratively to find better ways to serve members and strengthen organizations.Challenges do not discourage me; they invigorate me. Whether leading through organizational change, adopting new technologies, developing future leaders, or improving communications, I am energized by the opportunity to build something better.

NARFE faces important challenges today, but I see even greater opportunities. We have dedicated volunteers, passionate members, and a mission that remains vital to federal employees and retirees. By embracing innovation, encouraging open dialogue, and focusing on solutions, we can create a stronger and more sustainable future.I am running because I believe leadership requires curiosity, vision, and a willingness to tackle difficult issues.

The future of NARFE depends on empowering our members, respecting our volunteers, and creating a culture where collaboration is valued and leadership is accountable.

My commitment is simple: to listen, to connect, and to lead with the belief that NARFE is strongest when its members are fully engaged in shaping its future and I will work tirelessly to help NARFE reach its full potential.

          My vision is simple:
Leadership that Connects NARFE

NARFE is at a crossroads

We can continue down the same path of declining membership, outdated technology, uncertain governance transparency, and increasing challenges in engaging the next generation of federal employees and retirees. Or we can choose a different path—one that embraces innovation, strengthens accountability, and positions NARFE for future growth.

I believe the future of NARFE depends on our willingness to change.

For too long, membership has continued to decline despite the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. We must recognize that today's workforce expects modern communication tools, seamless digital experiences, and meaningful opportunities to engage. If we want to attract younger members and retain those we already have, we must invest in technology that supports our mission and enhances the member experience.

My vision is Leadership that Connects NARFE.

That means connecting members to information, chapters to resources, federations to national leadership, and advocates to the tools they need to be successful. It means providing meaningful volunteer opportunities supported by modern systems that allow members to make a difference.

Imagine a NARFE with:
     1.  A reliable, organization-wide email communication solution.
     2.  Technology that connects ZIP codes to congressional districts, making grassroots advocacy more effective.
     3.  Integrated platforms that allow members to move seamlessly between NARFE resources.
     4.  Better access to data and reporting that supports recruitment, retention, and member engagement.
     5.  Transparent governance that builds trust and confidence throughout the organization.

Technology alone will not solve our challenges, but it can empower our members, strengthen our advocacy efforts, and help us build a sustainable future. The choice before us is not whether change will come. The choice is whether we will lead that change or allow it to happen around us.

I am running for National President because I believe NARFE's best days can still be ahead of us. Together, we can create a stronger, more connected, and more effective organization for current and future generations of federal employees and retirees.
